Inspiration

The Rocavelle Wall Sconce started from rocaille, the carved shell-and-wave ornament that 18th-century French plasterers set above doorways and around mirror frames: a fan of ribs that sweeps sideways into a curling wave, a small shell at the top and a scroll at the foot. We carved that ornament by hand in plaster resin, sanded it smooth, and set a light behind it so the wall around the shell glows.

FAQ
White, Beige, Sand Gold or Matte Black?
White reads like carved plaster on a pale wall. Beige is a warmer, softer tone for a cream or greige wall. Sand Gold picks up the warm light behind it. Matte Black shows the carving as a dark outline against the glow. Other colors can be made to order.
Is it carved by hand?
Yes. Each sconce is carved and sanded by hand in plaster resin, so small differences in the ribs and curls are normal from piece to piece.
Is there a left and right version?
Yes. The left-facing and right-facing versions are mirror images, so the waves curl toward each other when you hang one on each side of a bed, a mirror or a doorway. Each has a 5W backlight in Warm Light (3000K) for a soft glow rather than reading light.
How is it installed?
It is hardwired to a wall junction box, so we recommend a licensed electrician. The LED is built in, so there are no bulbs to fit.
