A silk fabric shade does something glass cannot. It holds the light for a moment, warms it, and lets it out slowly — so a room feels settled instead of switched on.
Silk is chosen for one reason: it is the fabric that behaves best in front of a light source. Tight enough to hide the bulb, fine enough to glow.
A fine, slightly irregular weave that catches light across the surface rather than reflecting it back flatly. Up close you can read the threads.
Light passes through the fabric instead of bouncing off it, so the shade itself becomes the lit object — warm and even from edge to edge.
