Calora Wall Sconce

DCW-X1132-01

$185.00 USD $305.00 USD

| /

Overview

The Calora Wall Sconce is a single-bulb hardwired sconce with a handwoven natural rattan shade shaped into a six-petal scallop, suspended from a slim brass arm and a round brass-finished backplate. Two small ivory bead accents sit at the joint where the arm meets the backplate — a small detail that softens the metal-to-wall transition.

Available in two sizes — a smaller version for narrow hallways and bedside placements, and a larger version for taller walls and statement positions. Designed for ambient wall lighting in bedrooms, hallways, reading nooks, and relaxed living rooms with farmhouse, coastal, or organic-modern interiors.

Key Features

Handwoven Rattan Petal Shade
Natural rattan strands woven by hand into a six-petal scalloped silhouette — no two pieces alike.
Solid Brass Arm + Backplate
Round backplate and slim turned arm in raw brass, with two ivory bead accents softening the wall joint.
Single E12 Candelabra Socket
One E12 socket, max 40W, sitting inside the rattan dome and casting a warm woven-shadow pattern. Bulb included.
Light Through the Weave

The shade is open at the bottom and woven on the dome — that's why the light it throws looks different from a closed fixture.

Downward · Open
Direct pool below
The open scalloped underside lets the bulb cast a focused warm pool onto the surface beneath — useful next to a bed or a reading chair.
Upward · Filtered
Woven shadow on the wall
Light rising through the rattan weave projects a textured pattern onto the wall and ceiling, giving the fixture an ambient, decorative quality after dark.

Installation

Hardwired Wall Mount · Indoor Dry Use Only Calora mounts to a standard wall electrical box — not a plug-in sconce. Installation is straightforward, but we recommend a licensed electrician for the wiring step. Rattan absorbs humidity over time, so keep it to indoor dry locations — no bathrooms, laundry rooms, covered porches, or other damp areas. Clean by dusting with a dry cloth or soft brush.

Where It Works

Mount a pair flanking a bed to replace nightstand lamps and free up surface space, or use a single sconce in a hallway for soft ambient guidance lighting. For dining rooms or living rooms in a coastal-farmhouse or organic-modern direction, mount a pair on either side of a sideboard or fireplace to layer the room's lighting beyond a single overhead fixture. Calora is ambient, not task lighting — it sets mood rather than flooding a room.

FAQ

Will every shade look identical to the photo?
Close, but not identical. Each rattan shade is woven by hand, so weave density and petal curvature vary subtly between pieces. The overall six-petal silhouette and natural rattan tone stay consistent — the surface texture is what varies.
Which size should I choose — small or large?
The small size suits hallways, bedside placements, reading nooks, and walls under 9 ft tall. The large size suits taller walls, staircase landings, primary bedrooms with high ceilings, or any spot where the sconce needs to read as a statement piece. When in doubt, mount painter's tape on the wall in the fixture's footprint to check scale before committing.
What bulb does it use?
One B-type candelabra bulb with an E12 base — the small flame-shape or torpedo-shape bulb commonly sold as "B11 candelabra". Maximum 40W per socket. A bulb is included with the fixture. If you'd like to replace it later with an LED to match your room's color temperature, look for a B11 LED labeled E12 — a 2700K warm white pairs naturally with the rattan tone.
Does it work with a dimmer?
Yes, with the right bulb. Install a bulb explicitly labeled "dimmable" — most B11 LEDs are — and pair with an LED-compatible wall dimmer. A standard non-dimmable LED bulb will flicker or fail on a dimmer.
Can I install it myself?
Calora is hardwired and mounts to a standard wall electrical box. If you've installed a sconce before and you're comfortable with line-voltage wiring and a ground connection, yes. Otherwise, hire a licensed electrician. Always shut off the breaker before working on the fixture.
Can I use it in a bathroom or covered porch?
No. Rattan is a natural fiber and absorbs humidity over time, which leads to warping and discoloration. The sconce is rated for indoor dry locations only — bedrooms, hallways, living rooms, dining rooms, entryways, and similar dry interior spaces.
How bright is it? Can it light a whole room?
Output is ambient, not task. With a single 40W-equivalent bulb and a partly open shade, Calora is designed as accent and mood lighting — perfect for mounting as a pair beside a bed or layering with overhead lighting in a living room. It's not bright enough on its own for kitchen prep, makeup application, or a workspace.
