The Brevano Pendant Lamp is the enamel dome that hung over a farmhouse kitchen table, remade in glazed clay. The shade is a shallow ceramic bowl turned upside down, hand-painted cream with a single brown band around the rim where an old enamel shade would have chipped to its dark edge. Above it the socket is capped by a piece of turned walnut shaped like the foot of a candlestick, and above that sits a small white ceramic bead ribbed like a pumpkin, the way a wooden finial would be finished on a kitchen dresser. The single lamp hangs from a plain ceramic ceiling disc; the two- and three-light versions hang from a flat plank of walnut instead, like pendants strung under a beam.

Every Docos base is shaped, glazed, and fired by artisans with decades of practice. We fire our stoneware to 1300°C — nearly twice the heat of standard ceramics — giving each piece the density of stone and the smoothness of jade. No two are identical. None of them are accidents.
