Mivella Wall Sconce

The Mivella is a small posy pressed to the wall. Five ruffled blooms lean out on green stems at slightly different heights, the way stems do in a jar of picked flowers — none of them quite matching, none of them straight. The ruffled edges were drawn from cottage-garden petunias, whose petals crimp at the rim instead of finishing cleanly. Lit from within, the blooms turn into something a child would look for in the dark rather than a light fixture on a wall.

One size. The flowers reach about 8″ across, so it suits a narrow wall, a landing, or the space beside a nightstand without crowding it. At 3.1″ deep it stays clear of a passing shoulder in a hallway, and because nothing is wired in you can mount it at whatever height reads best — around 48–60″ (120–150 cm) from the floor for a night light, lower in a nursery.
