The Ravello Wood Table Lamp is a chess pawn scaled up to sit on a nightstand. The body is one solid piece of wood turned into a tall, narrow cone that widens toward the foot, the same plain silhouette as a pawn's base, and the shade above it is a taller cone of natural linen that stands in for the pawn's head. There is no neck, no visible socket and no metal between the two: the cloth simply sits on the wood. Lit, the shade glows an even oat color and drops a small pool of light down the grain of the wood, so from across the room the lamp reads as a single quiet shape rather than a stand with a hat on it.
