Inspiration

The Aurevia Wall Sconce is a scallop shell cast in plaster. The shade is molded in GRG, glass-fiber reinforced gypsum, with the ribs and wavy rim of a real shell, and the surface is left with a fine sandy grain instead of a smooth coat, so it reads like limestone or a bleached shell picked up on a beach. The bulb sits inside the open top, and because plaster is opaque, all the light washes upward across the wall, which is why this plaster scallop shell wall sconce was designed for a hallway, bedroom, or living room wall in coastal, Mediterranean, and organic-modern homes.

How high should I mount it?
Around 170–180cm/67–71″ to the base of the shell in a hallway or living room, so the open top sits above eye level and you see the wall glow, not the bulb. Beside a bed, drop it to about 140cm/55″.
Is it bright enough to light a room?
It is an uplight: one G9 washes the wall and ceiling above it for soft ambient light. Use two or more along a hallway, or pair it with other lighting in a bedroom or living room.
What is GRG?
Glass-fiber reinforced gypsum — plaster cast with glass fibers mixed in. It holds sharp detail like the shell ribs, weighs less than solid plaster, and resists chipping at the rim.
Can I paint it?
Yes. The white and cream versions take standard matte wall paint, so the sconce can match a colored wall exactly. The pearl version is meant to stay as finished.
