Paper lanterns have always been made to be looked through rather than at. This one keeps that logic and adds a hand: loose brushstrokes laid across the rice paper in soft pastels and earth tones, drawn on the flat sheet before the sphere takes shape, so the marks stretch and bend with the curve. Built in layered panels rather than one skin, the lantern holds a rounder silhouette and throws a softer, more even glow — traditional construction, a painter's finish.
At 21.6″ across and nearly 23″ tall, this is a single-fixture piece — a dining table, a stair void, a corner of a living room, or a bedroom where it can hang low without being brushed past. Over a table, keep the bottom of the shade 30–36″ above the surface. In open floor space, allow at least 7 ft of clearance: paper dents easily and doesn't spring back.
