The Sorellin Travertine Table Lamp started from the stone balls that cap old gateposts in the hill towns outside Rome, where travertine has been cut for centuries: round, pitted by rain, and banded with the layers the stone formed in. We turned one of those stone balls into a base, and set a plain fabric cone above it, the way a canvas umbrella opens over a café table in the square below.
