The Tervik Pendant Lamp is a camellia that has dropped from the branch and landed face down. The shade is glazed ceramic pressed into five broad petals that curl up at the tips, each with a soft crease down the middle where a real petal folds, and the glaze pools thicker in the creases so they read a shade darker than the rest. Where the stem would join the flower there is a small fluted brass cap, ribbed like a thimble, and the cord runs up from it. One flower hangs alone from a round copper-finish disc; three hang from a flat copper-finish bar like blossoms strung under a branch. Lit, the petals glow through their thin edges and light spills down between them.

Every Docos base is shaped, glazed, and fired by artisans with decades of practice. We fire our stoneware to 1300°C — nearly twice the heat of standard ceramics — giving each piece the density of stone and the smoothness of jade. No two are identical. None of them are accidents.
