The Avyra Table Lamp takes its shape from a paper parasol. A wide, shallow fabric cone sits on a thin brass stem, and the rim is bound with a running whip stitch, the way the edge of a hand-made parasol or a leather hat brim is finished, so the stitches stay visible against the light. The stem drops into a tapered block of solid wood, in natural oak or walnut, that looks like a turned tool handle standing on end, and a small brass cap closes the top. Lit from within, the shade glows evenly and throws light down onto the table, which is why this fabric cone table lamp with solid wood base was designed as a bedside or reading lamp for mid-century and Japandi rooms.
