The Bellavere Pendant Lamp is a cabbage-leaf plate turned into a lampshade. The shade is a shallow ceramic saucer with a ruffled, wavy rim, glazed the way the old Portuguese leaf-ware dishes were: a wash of green brushed over a pale yellow ground so the color sits heavier in the ridges and thins out toward the edge, like the veins and margins of a real leaf. Above it a small white ceramic bead ribbed like a pumpkin sits on a brass collar, the knob a lid would have on a vegetable tureen. One saucer hangs from a round copper-finish disc, two from a wider disc, three from a flat bar, and lit from inside the leaf glows yellow-green with the bulb showing below the ruffle.

Every Docos base is shaped, glazed, and fired by artisans with decades of practice. We fire our stoneware to 1300°C — nearly twice the heat of standard ceramics — giving each piece the density of stone and the smoothness of jade. No two are identical. None of them are accidents.
