Inspiration

The Sukina Pendant Lamp started from the woven raffia sun hats sold at summer beach markets along the Mediterranean, wide, shallow brims finished with a soft, wavy edge like the petals of a flower. Hung from a nail by the door at the end of the day, they cast a pattern of small gaps of light on the wall behind. We kept that wide, petal-edged brim and the open weave, turned it upside down as a shade, and hung it on a braided cord with a little wood at the top.

Natural raffia

The shade is woven from natural raffia. The weave, tone and edge vary slightly from shade to shade, so no two lamps look exactly the same.

Which size should I choose?

The Small (Ø 19.7″ / 50cm) suits a breakfast nook, a bedroom or a round table for four. The Medium (Ø 23.6″ / 60cm) fits over a dining table for six. The Large (Ø 31.5″ / 80cm) works in a living room or over a long dining table.

Is it dimmable?

Yes. It works with a dimmer switch (not included). Use a dimmable bulb, either up to 40W incandescent or a dimmable LED equivalent.

Can I install it on a sloped ceiling?

Yes. It fits sloped ceilings up to 30°, so it works under a vaulted living room or kitchen ceiling, or in an attic bedroom.

How is it installed?

It is hardwired to a ceiling junction box, so we recommend a licensed electrician. The 150cm/59″ cord can be shortened during installation to set your hanging height.
