Inspiration

The Papillora Wall Sconce started from the flowers a butterfly stops on in a summer garden: a bloom hanging from the end of a long stem that bends under its weight, and a single leaf held out flat lower down. We made the bloom in glass, as ribbed petals, fluted bells, or a dome with a butterfly on it, and hung it from a long curved gold metal arm. The same arm bends back down and holds a round wooden shelf, the leaf below the flower.

Built-In Wooden Shelf

A round 18cm/7.1″ white ash shelf sits below the shade, a spot for a phone, glasses or a small book.

Curved Arm & Pull Chain

One curved gold metal arm holds both the shade and the shelf, and a pull chain turns the light on and off at the sconce.

Which shade should I choose?

A Caramel: ribbed glass in caramel amber. B Gilded Smoke Purple: ribbed glass fading from gold to smoky purple. C Frosted Petal: frosted textured glass in a petal frame. Can the shelf replace a nightstand?

For a small bedroom or guest room, yes. The round 18cm/7.1″ shelf holds a phone, glasses or a small book, so the sconce works as a bedside light and a small bedside shelf in one, with nothing on the floor.

How far does it stick out from the wall?

Styles A and B extend 28.5cm/11.2″ from the wall; the other five extend 26cm/10.2″. All are 55cm/21.7″ tall.

How is it installed?

It is hardwired to a wall junction box, so we recommend a licensed electrician. A pull chain turns it on and off, and one E26 or E27 bulb is included.
