Inspiration

The Brimelle Flush Mount Ceiling Light came from a grandmother’s sewing box: a length of beige fabric folded into fine pleats, and a card of brown ric-rac trim wound beside it, waiting to be stitched onto a skirt hem. The skirt never got made. We pleated the fabric into a wide, shallow shade, ran the ric-rac around both edges, and finished the middle with a small wooden button.

Which size should I choose?
The Small (Dia 45cm/17.7″) suits a hallway, a nursery or a laundry room. The Medium (Dia 55cm/21.7″) suits a standard bedroom. The Large (Dia 65cm/25.6″) suits a living room, a dining room or a primary bedroom.
Will it work with a low ceiling?
Yes. Even the Large is only 25cm/9.8″ tall, and the shade sits close to the ceiling on a short stem, so it suits standard 8 ft ceilings where a pendant would hang too low.
How bright is it?
All three sizes take 3 × E26 or E27 bulbs, included, in Warm Light (3000K). The pleated fabric glows softly, and the opening at the bottom sends more light down into the room.
How do I install and clean it?
It is hardwired to a ceiling junction box, so we recommend a licensed electrician. To clean, turn it off and dust the pleats with a soft dry brush; spot-clean the fabric only.
