Inspiration

The Viremont Pendant Lamp is a cut gemstone on a necklace, scaled up and hung from the ceiling. The shade is a single block of solid colored glass, cast and then ground into a flat-faced pentagon, the outline of a stone before it goes into a ring, and a flat brass strap runs through its center like the bail on a pendant, with one screw showing on the face. The glass is poured with color swirled in during casting, so each stone carries its own streaks and clouds of black, violet, blue, green or amber, and no two are alike. Lit from inside by a small G4, the facets catch the light at their edges and the colored veins show through like inclusions in a real stone.
