Virella comes out of folk pottery — the painted stoneware that was made to be used, where a vine of leaves and berries was brushed around a rim because a plain edge looked unfinished. The shade keeps that logic: a wide brim, cream glaze, and the pattern where a hand would naturally run. Nothing is hidden. The bulb sits open below the rim and the walnut bead at the neck is left plain, so the painted border stays the only decoration on the piece.

Because it plugs in, Virella suits renters and anyone redecorating without electrical work — above a nightstand, over a breakfast nook or two-seat table, at the end of a kitchen island, or in a reading corner where no junction box exists. The vine motif reads as a small textile-like accent, so it sits well with linen, oak or walnut furniture, and warm brass hardware.
