The Lithaven Flush Mount Ceiling Light started from the wide, shallow travertine basins of old Roman courtyard fountains, pale and pitted, with a low rim around the edge, and from a full moon seen hanging just below the edge of a roof. We cut a shallow dish from travertine, left its pores open and its rim raised, hung it from a short metal rod, and set a round white glass globe just under its center.
The dish is natural travertine. The color, veining and pores differ on every piece, so no two lights look exactly the same.
