Inspiration

The Larena takes its shape from a pressed-glass dish turned upside down — the kind of fluted, scallop-edged piece that used to come out for dessert. Ribs run from the center to the rim, which is exactly what makes it work as a shade: each flute bends the light a little differently, so the glass reads as a lit flower rather than a plain dome. Brass at the socket and a knurled knob keep the fittings in period, and the twisted gold cord is meant to be seen rather than hidden.

Both are small, shallow shades. Take the Small beside a bed or in a single spot where a table lamp would take up surface; the Large over a kitchen island or dining table, or run two or three in a row along a longer counter. Over a work surface, hang the bottom about 30–36″ (75–90 cm) above it; beside a bed, 24–30″ (60–75 cm) above the mattress.

How does it install — do I need an electrician?

No wiring and no electrician. Anchor one of the two included hooks above where the shade should hang, the second near your outlet, drape the 450 cm cord through both to form the swag, and plug in. It leaves nothing behind but two small hook holes, so it works in a rental.

Is a bulb included, and what fits?

Yes — one bulb, plus two ceiling hooks and mounting hardware. The socket takes an E26 or E27 medium base (the US standard screw size); a vintage filament bulb gives the strongest look through the fluted glass.

Which size and color should I pick?

Two sizes — Ø7.8″ for a bedside or single spot, Ø9.8″ over an island or dining table — each in clear or green glass and two petal shapes. Clear stays light and neutral; green adds color and reads a little darker when lit.

Can it go in a bathroom, and how do I clean the glass?

No — glass on a cloth cord is rated for indoor dry locations only, so keep it out of bathrooms and covered outdoor areas. Wipe the glass with a soft cloth and glass cleaner; the flutes trap dust, so dust more often for the best sparkle, and use a dry cloth on the brass.
