Inspiration

The Marivelle Ornament is a garden pear that carries the whole orchard on its skin. The body is ceramic in a full, rounded pear shape, glazed in a warm cream, and hand-painted all around with small birds perched on leafy branches, red butterflies with open wings, and dark green fern sprigs, each outlined in fine raised lines like old painted porcelain. The birds are drawn in soft blue and tan with long, striped tails, and no two sides of the pear show the same scene. From the top, a slim brass stem curves up and out, finished with a textured tip where the fruit once hung from the tree.
