The Mirelane Pendant Lamp is a tulip bud the evening before it opens. The shade is thin white porcelain pressed into six petals that curve in toward each other and just part at the tips, the moment a bud shows its first slit of color. Above the flower a small brass collar and a ribbed porcelain bead stand in for the stem, and a twisted brown cord runs up from them like the stalk. The porcelain is fired thin enough to pass light, so when the bulb is on the whole bud glows a warm apricot from inside, brightest where the petals overlap, and a little light escapes from the opening at the bottom.

Every Docos base is shaped, glazed, and fired by artisans with decades of practice. We fire our stoneware to 1300°C — nearly twice the heat of standard ceramics — giving each piece the density of stone and the smoothness of jade. No two are identical. None of them are accidents.
