Inspiration

Eloise takes its shape from the small glass lanterns that once hung in hallways and stairwells — a ribbed body held between two ornate metal caps, finished with a finial because someone thought the top deserved finishing too. The color came second: pressed glass in green, blue, and milky tones was the everyday decorative material of that era, cheap enough to be common and pretty enough to be kept. It was drawn to hang from a hook rather than a ceiling box, the way a lantern always did.
