Inspiration

The Tide's Seashell Wall Sconce starts from an open clam and the pearl inside it. Two scallop-edged rattan halves are woven over a metal frame to make the shell, and the opal glass globe is set forward rather than tucked away, so it reads as the pearl being offered up. Weaving the shell rather than moulding it means the light does two things at once: it diffuses through the globe and it seeps through the weave, so the shell glows along with the room.

Is the shell real, or is it rattan?
Handwoven rattan shaped into a seashell silhouette — the shell is the design, the material is rattan over a metal frame, and the opal globe reads as the pearl. So: not a real seashell and not Capiz. We named it Seashell for the shape, not the material.
Is a bulb included, and which type?
Yes — a 3000K warm white LED bulb is included. The socket takes E26 or E27 medium base bulbs, so US E26 replacements thread right in. Stick with a low-heat LED: the bulb sits inside an enclosed opal globe and close to natural rattan, and neither likes high heat.
Can I use it in a bathroom?
In a powder room with no shower or tub, yes — that's a dry indoor space. Not in a full bathroom with a shower: humidity weakens the rattan weave, mottles the fiber and discolors the brass-tone finish. Same for damp basements and covered patios.
Will the rattan warp or fade?
Indoors and dry, natural rattan holds its shape for years. The tone may lighten slightly over the first few months as the fiber settles, then stays stable; keeping it out of direct sunlight slows any further change. The glass and hardware are stable indefinitely. Damp rooms are the one thing that genuinely warps rattan.
