The Lithmere Flush Mount Ceiling Light started from an old millstone found leaning against a farmhouse wall outside Rome: a thick round of travertine, its face pitted by years of weather, with a hole cut through the center where the shaft once turned. We kept that shape, cut it from travertine, set a glass globe in the opening where the shaft used to be, and capped it with a round metal plate like the hub that held the stone in place.
