Inspiration

The Foliemont Wall Sconce started from the carved acanthus leaves at the top of old Corinthian columns and on the plaster wall brackets of French townhouses: broad, deeply ribbed leaves curling outward from a narrow turned base. We shaped that cluster of leaves in plaster resin, finished it by hand in water-based paint, and set a light behind it so the top of the leaves glows against the wall.

FAQ

Which finish should I choose?

Ivory White reads like carved plaster on a pale wall. Gilded Gold catches the light on every rib, for a Parisian or French country room. Matte Black shows the leaves as a dark outline against the glow behind them. Dark Wood is a painted dark wood-grain finish that looks like old carved wood.

How bright is it?

It uses one 9W G9 bulb in Warm Light (3000K), shining up behind the leaves. It is an accent light that lights the wall above it, not a reading light.

Where should I hang it?

It looks best in pairs, on either side of a mirror, a bed or a fireplace, or in a row along a hallway or stairway. In the US, sconces are usually mounted about 152–168cm/60–66″ from the floor.

How is it installed?

It is hardwired to a wall junction box, so we recommend a licensed electrician. The G9 bulb is included.
