Inspiration

The Spirora comes out of the Italian metal wall panels of the 1960s, where flat sheet was cut, folded, and layered until it read as movement standing still. Three triangular petals sit on a square plate, each turned a few degrees off the last, so the eye follows a spiral that never actually turns. Color does the rest — saturated powder coat, the way that era treated metal as something to paint rather than polish, with a reflective bulb at the center throwing the color back into the room.

Key Features

Spiraled Triangular Petals
Three layered metal petals, each rotated relative to the next, read as a static spiral and throw a layered shadow across the wall when lit.
Built for a Chrome Bulb
Designed around a silver-tipped chrome globe bulb, whose mirrored dome reflects the painted backplate back into the room (sold separately — see FAQ).
Three Bold Colorways
A saturated retro color for a maximalist gallery wall, or cream white when the petal geometry should carry the piece on its own.
Available Colorways

Colorway A
Lavender Purple
Muted lilac powder coat — bold but soft. Pairs with cream walls, brass hardware, and 1970s-leaning interiors.

Colorway B
Terracotta Orange
Warm burnt-orange powder coat — punchy and retro. Pairs with white-oak floors, terracotta tile, and mid-century furniture.

Colorway C
Cream White
Warm off-white powder coat — quiet and sculptural. Suits transitional and Scandinavian rooms.

Use Case

The Spirora is built to be looked at. The 5W LED gives accent or mood light — enough to bring warmth to a corner, not enough to replace an overhead fixture. The petals fan forward off a flat backplate, so projection from the wall stays modest, which makes it workable in hallways and tight gallery walls where a deeper sconce would catch shoulders.

Hang two as a symmetrical pair flanking a mirror, console, headboard, or doorway, or one alone as the focal point of an asymmetric gallery wall. Works with oak millwork, brass hardware, terracotta tile, raw plaster, vintage furniture, and 1960s–70s textiles. FAQ

What's the chrome bulb in the photos, and is it included?
The photos show a silver-tipped "mirror-chrome" G45 globe LED — the mirrored dome on the front of the bulb bounces the painted backplate color back into the room, which is what produces the look online. What ships with the sconce is a standard high-CRI 5W E26 LED, not the chrome one. To match the photos, add a silver-tipped G45 chrome LED (also sold as "half-mirror" or "silver-bowl"), available from Amazon, Lumens, Bulbrite, and lighting specialty retailers. Search "silver-tipped G45 LED E26." Stay at 5–7W LED and skip halogen.
Can the petals be rotated or adjusted?
No — the petals are fixed at the factory, riveted or screw-mounted to the backplate so the spiral holds its orientation over time. What you see in the photos is the final geometry. If you need a specific petal angle, email info@docos.us before ordering to ask whether a custom angle is possible.
Does it matter which way up I mount it?
Yes, more than with a round sconce. The spiral has a direction, so a pair mounted as mirror images will read differently from a pair mounted identically — decide which you want before drilling. Check also that the existing junction box lands where you want the square plate centered, since the straight edges make any offset from a door frame or mirror line obvious.
