Inspiration

The Anvers came from a gallery detail: the brass picture lights that lean over old oil paintings, doing their work without asking to be looked at. We kept the horizontal gesture and the brass, then swapped the metal hood for a solid bar of alabaster — a stone that has been carved into lamps and window panes since antiquity precisely because it passes light. Honed rather than polished, the surface stays matte until the bulbs come on, at which point the whole bar warms from inside.

Key Features

Honed Alabaster Bar
A honed alabaster cylinder that reads matte unlit and glows warm from within when on — veining and tone vary with the stone.
Brass Backplate & End Caps
A round brass backplate centers the bar on the wall, with brass end caps closing each end.
Two Bulbs, Even Warm Glow
Two sockets light the bar from inside, so the stone glows evenly end to end. Warm E14 LED bulbs included — note E14, not US E12.
Size & Fit

Measurement Value
Width 18.1″ (46 cm)
Height 4.7″ (12 cm)

One size, mounted horizontally. Over a framed piece, the bar looks right at about half to two-thirds the frame's width, so 18.1″ suits art roughly 27–36″ (70–90 cm) wide; set it a few inches above the top of the frame. Over a mirror or as a vanity bar, center it on the mirror and mount around 75–80″ (190–205 cm) from the floor so the light falls onto the face rather than into the eyes.

FAQ

What bulbs does it take — and will US bulbs fit?
It takes 2 × E14, and warm 2700–3000K E14 LED bulbs are included and replaceable. Note that E14 is the European small Edison screw and is not the same as the US E12 candelabra base — a US E12 bulb will not thread in. Buy E14 replacements, or fit an E14-to-E12 adapter.
How bright is it?
Two bulbs behind alabaster give a soft warm accent glow — right for lighting a painting or a mirror, not enough to light a whole room. Layer it with overhead or lamp light for general illumination.
Can it go in a bathroom, and how do I clean the stone?
A powder room or dry-area vanity is fine, but not a full bathroom where shower steam reaches it, and not outdoors — alabaster is porous and not damp-rated. Clean it dry only: dust with a soft cloth and never use water or cleaners, which can stain or etch the stone. Brass takes a dry cloth.
How is it installed?
It hardwires to a standard wall junction box through the round brass backplate and mounts horizontally, so a licensed electrician is recommended. Handle the alabaster gently while mounting — it is stone, and the bar is the fragile part.
Alabaster — Natural Stone Lighting

The light lives
in the stone.

Hand-cut alabaster lighting that glows from within — chandeliers, pendants, sconces, and lamps, each carved from a single block of natural stone.

The Craft

From a block of stone
to light in your room.

Alabaster can't be moulded or mass-pressed — it is cut. Every shade starts as solid stone and is worked by hand until it's thin enough to glow evenly. That's why no two are the same.

01

Quarried

Blocks of natural alabaster are extracted and graded for translucency and the quality of their veining before any cutting begins.

02

Cut & shaped

Each block is sliced and turned or carved to form, then hollowed so a bulb can sit behind the stone wall.

03

Hand-finished

The walls are sanded to an even thickness so light passes through without dark patches, then polished by hand.

04

Wired & assembled

Fitted with brass hardware and wired to a 120V, ETL-compliant build, then inspected before it ships.

Why Alabaster

What makes it read as something rarer.

Translucent, not opaque

Light passes through the stone itself — the lit-from-inside quality you can't get from glass or acrylic.

Veining unique to your piece

Cut from a solid block, so the cloud-like veining is its own. No two alabaster fixtures are identical.

Warm and glare-free

The stone scatters light rather than aiming it. Pair with a 2700K bulb; most fixtures dim on a compatible LED dimmer.

Made for layered rooms

A soft accent beside stronger overhead light — at home with wood, linen, and brass in modern interiors.

Lit From Within

It doesn't light the room.
It becomes the light.

Switched off, an alabaster fixture is a quiet stone object. Switched on, the whole piece glows — sculpture you happen to be able to turn on.

The Collection

A gallery of carved light.

Chandeliers, pendants, sconces, table and floor lamps — all cut from natural alabaster, most paired with brass. Dozens of pieces in all.

Find My Size

Which alabaster light
for which room.

Dining & Island

Hang a linear pendant or chandelier roughly 30–36″ above the surface. For a 6–8′ island, size the fixture or cluster to about two-thirds the counter length.

Foyer & Stairwell

Two-story spaces suit a tiered chandelier — Corbett or Miira. Keep the lowest point at least 7′ off the floor in a walkway.

Bedside & Hallway

A wall sconce — Ando, Marmo, Velora — frees the nightstand and adds the soft accent layer. Plug-in versions skip the hardwiring.

Living Room & Den

A table lamp — Marie, Pico — anchors a reading corner with warm light beside your overheads.

Questions

Alabaster lighting, answered.

Is alabaster lighting durable, or does the stone chip easily?

Alabaster is a solid, fine-grained stone with real weight — not fragile in normal use. It is softer than marble, so avoid knocks and harsh chemical cleaners. A soft, dry cloth keeps it looking right for years.

Will my alabaster fixture look exactly like the photo?

No — and that's by design. Each shade is cut from natural stone, so the veining and tone are unique to your piece. The product photo shows a representative example; yours will have its own distinct veining.

What bulb and colour temperature work best with alabaster?

Use a 2700K warm-white LED to bring out the honeyed, candle-like tone in the stone. Cooler bulbs make alabaster look gray. Most fixtures take an E26 or G9 base — check the product page — and dim with a compatible LED dimmer.

Which alabaster fixture should I choose for my room size?

Chandeliers (Corbett, Kurve, Miira) suit dining rooms and two-story foyers; pendants suit kitchen islands; sconces suit bedsides and hallways. Send us your dimensions for a free 3D preview to scale before you order.
