Washi paper is thin, strong, and slightly translucent — which is exactly what a good shade needs. Light passes through the fiber instead of bouncing off it, so the glow lands soft and even. Every shade is hand-shaped over a wire frame, which means no two are identical. The small variations on the surface aren't defects — they're the difference between a handmade lantern and a printed one.
Washi, traditional Japanese paper, is crafted from the inner barks of plants like kozo, mitsumata, and gampi. The process involves carefully stripping, boiling, and pounding the fibers into pulp, which is then spread onto bamboo mesh to form delicate sheets. Known for its strength, translucency, and soft texture, washi has been a vital part of Japanese culture for centuries — seen in origami, lanterns, and sliding doors, embodying the nation's enduring artistry and grace.

These are quite nice for paper shades. I would recommend them. The pictures dont do the beauty of this lamp justice, and I had no issue getting it installed. It just required a bit of finagling, as most paper lanterns do. It is a much more affordable option of the more expensive Noguchi style lamps.

Never see nothing so easy to assemble as this.The material is paper so it makes really light . Kind of give the room a charming.
They work great and do exactly what I need them to. They're simple to assemble but feel very delicate so I'm not sure how long they'll last. I imagine if you handle with care that they will be fine.
This light is adorable and I think it's worth purchasing only if you have a small room and this is why: the small doesn't produce a lot of light and it might be hard to put together if you're weak like me?? but other than that it's very adorable and plus it's warm lighting which we love over here !! If you are looking for a cute lamp this is made for you!!!!

I'm really enjoying thislamp. You can search around for different warmths to your liking while using the lamp meantime. I love that it's dimmable and use it in the living room to help me wind down from the day, keeping it on low. The warm, low glow is very soft and soothing. A really nice style choice, grab one!
It has a clean, natural, and chill vibe. It is paper so it will break if you dont handle it properly. With my daylight bulb it feels like natural light even at night. I find that hanging lanterns work great for my small apartment since I dont have table top real estate.
Surprisngly sturdy for being paper. Knocked it around trying to get a larger bulb in it, finally did and not one tear.
Love the product. Its the perfect small, delicate and proportionate size. Easy to assemble. Wish the light was a light bit warmer, its a very white light. But overall love the way it turned out.
