The Bellmire Pendant Lamp is a lily-of-the-valley bell made the way a leaded window is made. The shade is not one piece of glass but a ring of narrow curved panels, each pressed with a small floral or water-ripple pattern, set into thin brass channels and soldered edge to edge, so the brass shows as gold lines running from the crown to the scalloped hem, the way lead lines run through a stained-glass lampshade. Above the brass cup that holds the bell, three dark rubberwood beads are stacked on the cord like a string of rosary beads. Lit, the pattern in the glass lights up in relief and the brass lines stay dark against it.
