Inspiration

The Mireston Flush Mount Ceiling Light started from the small travertine fountains in Roman courtyards, a shallow round basin of pale, pitted stone holding a still pool of water. Look into one at midday and the water is a flat disc of white light inside a thin ring of stone. We turned that basin upside down and put it on the ceiling: a wide, shallow disc of travertine on the outside, and a soft dome of white glass in the middle where the water used to catch the light.

!
Natural travertine

The disc is cut from natural travertine. Its color and open pores differ on every piece, so no two lights look exactly the same.

FAQ
Is the disc real travertine?
Yes. The disc is cut from natural travertine, so its color and pores vary from piece to piece. Dust it with a dry cloth and keep acidic cleaners off the stone.
Which finish should I choose?
The finish applies to the canopy. Black gives the strongest contrast against a white ceiling, Brushed Nickel suits rooms with silver or chrome hardware, and Brushed Brass picks up the warm tones in the stone.
Does it work with low ceilings?
Yes. It is only 11cm/4.3″ deep, so it sits close to the ceiling in hallways, closets, laundry rooms and other low spaces. At 25cm/9.8″ wide, it is sized for small rooms; for a large room, use two or three.
Does it need a bulb, and how is it installed?
No bulb is needed. It uses an integrated LED in warm 3000K light behind the white glass. It is hardwired to a ceiling junction box, so we recommend a licensed electrician for installation.

No. 02 — The Material

A stone that took two thousand years to arrive.

Travertine forms over millennia as mineral-rich spring water layers into solid stone. No two sections look alike — each piece carries its own trace of pores, veins, and color drift. The irregularities you see aren't imperfections. They're the stone's fingerprint.

No. 03

Four reasons
travertine feels different.

A growing number of US homes are swapping cold metal and glossy finishes for materials with real presence. Here's what makes this stone hold up to that shift — and why it holds up in a room.

01 / 04

One-of-a-kind texture

Every piece carries its own pattern of pores, veins, and soft color shifts. Shaped over millennia — not printed, not stamped. The lamp on your table is, by nature, unique.

02 / 04

Warm, lived-in tones

Natural cream, sand, and honey hues that read warm in any light — from morning sun to the last lamp-lit hour of the evening. The color the stone brings to the room doesn't read dated five years later.

03 / 04

Real stone, real weight

You feel it the moment you pick one up. Solid in the hand, grounded on the table. Nothing hollow, nothing plastic trying to imitate the surface of something it isn't.

04 / 04

Built to age well

Travertine softens beautifully with time. A lamp today, a piece that looks even better in ten years. The kind of purchase that earns its price instead of dating itself.

No. 04 — On Craft

"Every lamp is cut from a single block of natural travertine, then hand-finished until the surface is smooth to the touch but still honest about what it is — real stone, not composite, not resin."

No. 05 — Placement

Where travertine lighting belongs.

Each room has a spot that changes when a piece of stone lands in it. Three placements we keep seeing work.

No. 06 — Film Reel — Stone & Light

See how the stone
warms the light.

A diffused, honey-toned glow — softened once by the shade, and again by the stone around it.

The three pieces we'd hand to a friend first — chosen for proportion, glow quality, and the kind of stone that makes a difference in the room.
