Inspiration

The Skylisse borrows its stem from spindle turning — the stacked beads and swellings of an old bedpost or stair baluster, where a lathe left a rhythm of curves instead of a straight line. Painting that profile powder blue rather than staining it takes the weight out of the reference and leaves the shape reading as something almost toy-like. The shade answers with a scalloped, petal-cut hem, so nothing on the lamp finishes on a hard edge.

Is 55.9″ the right height beside a sofa or bed?
For a floor lamp used for reading, the ideal is for the bottom of the shade to sit near eye level when you're seated — roughly 47–60″ off the floor for most sofas and armchairs, which puts this lamp in the right band. Beside a bed it reads slightly tall, so it works best next to a bed with a taller headboard, or set back a little from the mattress edge.
How stable is it, and can it go in a kids' room?
At nearly 56″ tall with a 17.7″ shade, it's tall relative to its footprint, as any floor lamp of this proportion is. Place it against or beside furniture rather than in an open walkway, keep the cord routed behind furniture, and in a nursery or play area position it in a corner where it can't be pulled over. On carpet, check it sits level before letting go.
How do I deal with marks on the white shade?
Dust it regularly — most discoloration on a white shade is accumulated dust rather than staining. For a mark, dab with a barely damp cloth and let it dry fully; don't rub or soak the fabric, since water rings on a light shade are harder to fix than the original mark. Test on the inside face first.
