The Tasselle borrows from curtain making rather than lighting. A scalloped hem, a contrasting cord run along the edge, and a single tassel hung at the center are the trimmings a workroom adds to soften a plain panel — so they were applied to a wide, shallow shade instead. The tassel is the part that gives it away: it hangs free, moves slightly in a draught, and puts a small piece of ornament where most ceiling lights finish flat.

A rough rule for a ceiling light: add the room's length and width in feet and use that number in inches as the diameter — a 9 × 10 ft bedroom lands near the 19.6″, a hallway or powder room takes the 15.7″, and a living or dining room suits the 23.6″. All three sit close to the ceiling, so they clear 8 ft rooms where a pendant would hang into the way.
