The Carmelle started with the woven baskets stacked in the corner of a shoreline kitchen — cone-shaped, open enough to see daylight through, edges finished by hand rather than cut flat. Turned upside down and hung from a chain, that basket became the shade: a tapered weave whose rim was reshaped into a soft scalloped hem, so the silhouette ends in a wave instead of a hard line.
