Silk fabric shade lamp lit in a warmly furnished interior at dusk

Light, softened
by silk.

A silk fabric shade does something glass cannot. It holds the light for a moment, warms it, and lets it out slowly — so a room feels settled instead of switched on.

The shade is the design

Silk is chosen for one reason: it is the fabric that behaves best in front of a light source. Tight enough to hide the bulb, fine enough to glow.

  • Natural silk texture

A fine, slightly irregular weave that catches light across the surface rather than reflecting it back flatly. Up close you can read the threads.

  • Softly translucent

Light passes through the fabric instead of bouncing off it, so the shade itself becomes the lit object — warm and even from edge to edge.

  • Fabric craftsmanship

The silk is cut on the correct grain and drawn over the frame under even tension, which is what keeps the silhouette clean and the surface free of ripples.

  • Hand-finished

Edges are trimmed and finished by hand, and each shade is checked lit and unlit before it is packed. Slight variation between shades is inherent to a natural fabric.

Good lighting is not about how much light you add. It is about how gently you add it.”

What silk does to light

Move the dimmer. On the left, an uncovered bulb: a small, hard source that throws glare and sharp shadows. On the right, the same source through silk: one broad, warm surface.

72%

Illustration of light behaviour, not a photograph of the product.

  • Soft ambient glow

The whole shade lights up, so the light arrives from a large surface rather than a single point.

  • Less glare

The bulb stays hidden from normal sightlines — comfortable to sit beside, and to look at.

  • Warm atmosphere

Supplied with 3000K warm light, which reads naturally against wood, stone and textiles.

  • Layered lighting

Works as the mid-level layer between overhead light and task light, the layer most rooms are missing.

Look closer

Four details worth photographing, because they are where the difference between a fabric shade and a good fabric shade actually lives.

Macro view of the silk weave, warp and weft visible

Silk weave

A close, fine weave — dense enough to conceal the bulb, open enough to glow.

Hand-finished edge of the silk shade

Hand-finished edges

Top and bottom edges are trimmed and closed by hand, following the frame line without puckering.

Internal frame holding the silk shade under even tension

Frame structure

A rigid internal frame holds the fabric under even tension, so the shape stays true over years of use.

Junction where the silk shade meets the brushed metal stem

Material meeting point

Where silk meets brushed metal: a quiet joint, finished so the transition reads as one piece.

Where it belongs

The same shade reads differently room to room. What stays constant is the feeling: calm, warm, unhurried.

Silk shade lamp lit on a bedside table in the evening

Bedroom

Light low and warm at the end of the day — enough to read by, never enough to wake you up.

Silk shade lamp lighting an armchair reading corner

Reading corner

A pool of comfortable light over the page, with no glare off it.

Silk shade lamp on a side table in a living room at dusk

Living room

Softens the overhead light and gives the seating area its own centre.

Silk shade lighting a dining table setting

Dining room

Flattering light across the table, and across the people around it.

Silk shade lamp lit on an entryway console at night

Entryway

The first light you see coming home — warm, low, welcoming.

What you are buying

Premium silk fabric shade

A fine silk weave over a rigid frame, hand-finished at the edges.

Soft light diffusion

Warm 3000K light, spread evenly across the shade instead of thrown from a point.

Elegant silhouette

Proportions drawn to look considered from every seat in the room, lit or unlit.

Quality materials throughout

Silk shade, brushed metal hardware and solid fittings — no plastic in the visible structure.

Straightforward installation

Assembles in minutes with the supplied fittings. Takes an E26 or E27 bulb; bulbs are included.

Made for everyday living

Certified: North America · Australia · Europe · Middle East. Dust the shade dry; keep it away from damp.

Choosing the right size

General guidance for placing a fabric-shade fixture. Check the specifications on this product page for its own dimensions.

seated eye level

Bedside lamp

60–70 cm / 24–28 in overall

On a standard nightstand this puts the shade bottom near seated eye level, so the bulb stays hidden when you are sitting up in bed.

Pendant over a table

76–91 cm / 30–36 in above the top

Measured from the tabletop to the bottom of the shade. Low enough to light the table, high enough to see across it.

walkway

Pendant in open space

210 cm / 83 in minimum

Where people walk beneath the fixture, keep this much clear floor-to-shade so nobody has to duck.

  • Shade against base

A shade roughly twice the width of the base reads balanced. Much wider and the lamp looks top-heavy.

  • Console and sideboard tops

Keep the lamp under about a third of the surface length, so the top still has room to be used.

  • Working in pairs

Matching lamps either side of a bed or sofa give even light and look more resolved than one lamp alone.

Before you install

  • Room fit

Bedrooms, living rooms, dining rooms, reading corners, entryways and hotel guest rooms. Not for bathrooms, covered porches or any damp location.

  • Light layers

Plan it as the middle layer. Paired with overhead light on a dimmer, it carries the room on its own after dark.

  • Bulb

Takes an E26 or E27 bulb; bulbs are included, warm 3000K. Stay at or below the wattage stated in the specifications, and use LED rather than incandescent to keep heat away from the fabric.

  • Installation

Table and floor versions assemble by hand. Hardwired versions should be fitted by a qualified electrician to local code.

  • Care

Dust the silk dry with a soft brush or low-suction vacuum. No liquid cleaners, no solvents. Slight colour and texture variation between shades is inherent to natural silk.

More than a lamp — a piece of interior design that brings warmth, texture and personality into your home.

We design lighting the way you actually live with it: on in the evening, looked at every day, kept for years. Silk is where that starts.
