De Kairo Kroonluchter kwam voort uit een vraag over het lineaire armatuur zelf: waarom moet het één ononderbroken balk zijn? Als je de lengte in vier aparte walnotenhoutblokken verdeelt en een gat tussen elk blok laat, verandert de manier waarop het armatuur eruitziet — het oog volgt een ritme in plaats van een lijn, en het donkere houtnerf wordt zichtbaar op elke verbinding, dus het hout maakt zich kenbaar als timmerwerk in plaats van als een behuizing. Meer als een rij massieve objecten die in een rij ophangen dan als een lichtrail.
