Cobalisse borrows its surface from blue-and-white export porcelain — the plates and jars that travelled west by ship and ended up on dressers and mantelpieces far from where they were painted. Rather than copying a vase, it takes the flattest form in that family: a wide shallow brim, closer to a plate than a shade, so the pattern faces the room below instead of hiding inside. The scalloped rim is shaped by hand, and the turned walnut collar keeps the porcelain from reading as fragile.

The wide 9.8″ brim spreads soft downlight while showing the cobalt pattern from below, which suits a single pendant over a nightstand, a breakfast nook, the end of a kitchen island, or a powder-room vanity. At only 2.4″ tall it sits high enough for 8 ft ceilings without crowding head space, and two or three in a row work over a longer island or runner table. It reads well against wainscoting, brass hardware, and walnut or oak furniture; a warm-white LED brings up the blue without washing out the porcelain. For custom requests, email info@docos.us.
