Inspiration

The Halverson Pendant Lamp started from the old harbor lamps in small Nordic fishing towns, where a single glass globe hangs under a wide, flat metal hat to keep the rain and snow off. From the quay you see the pale dome of the hat and below it the globe glowing, with the light bouncing off the metal underneath. We kept that shape and made it smaller for indoors: a broad shallow disc, a round stone in place of the glass, and a chain to hang it from.

!
Natural Spanish alabaster

The globe is cut from natural Spanish alabaster. Its veining, cloud pattern and color differ on every piece, so no two lamps look exactly the same.

FAQ
Which size should I choose?
The Small (Ø 11.8″ / 30cm) works as a bedside pendant or in a row of two or three over a kitchen island. The Medium (Ø 15.7″ / 40cm) fits over a breakfast nook or a small round dining table. The Large (Ø 19.7″ / 50cm) suits a dining table for four to six, or an entryway or foyer.
Is the globe real alabaster?
Yes. The globe is cut from natural Spanish alabaster, so its veining and color vary from piece to piece. Alabaster is a soft stone, so dust it with a dry cloth and keep water and cleaners off it.
Which finish should I choose?
Antiqued Brass picks up the warm veins in the stone, Antique Bronze gives a darker, softer brown, and Black gives the strongest contrast against the pale globe.
Is a bulb included, and how is it installed?
Yes. It comes with one G9 bulb in warm 3000K light. G9 is a small bi-pin bulb, so use the same type when you replace it. The lamp is hardwired to a ceiling junction box, so we recommend a licensed electrician, and the hanging height is adjusted on the 50cm/19.7″ chain during installation.

Alabaster — Natural Stone Lighting

The light lives
in the stone.

The Craft

From a block of stone
to light in your room.

Alabaster can't be moulded or mass-pressed — it is cut. Every shade starts as solid stone and is worked by hand until it's thin enough to glow evenly. That's why no two are the same.

01

Quarried

Blocks of natural alabaster are extracted and graded for translucency and the quality of their veining before any cutting begins.

02

Cut & shaped

Each block is sliced and turned or carved to form, then hollowed so a bulb can sit behind the stone wall.

03

Hand-finished

The walls are sanded to an even thickness so light passes through without dark patches, then polished by hand.

04

Wired & assembled

Fitted with brass hardware and wired to a 120V, safety-certified build, then inspected before it ships.

Why Alabaster

What makes it read as something rarer.

Translucent, not opaque

Light passes through the stone itself — the lit-from-inside quality you can't get from glass or acrylic.

Veining unique to your piece

Cut from a solid block, so the cloud-like veining is its own. No two alabaster fixtures are identical.

Warm and glare-free

The stone scatters light rather than aiming it. Pair with a 2700K bulb; most fixtures dim on a compatible LED dimmer.

Made for layered rooms

A soft accent beside stronger overhead light — at home with wood, linen, and brass in modern interiors.

Lit From Within

It doesn't light the room.
It becomes the light.

Switched off, an alabaster fixture is a quiet stone object. Switched on, the whole piece glows — sculpture you happen to be able to turn on.

The Collection

A gallery of carved light.

Chandeliers, pendants, sconces, table and floor lamps — all cut from natural alabaster, most paired with brass. Dozens of pieces in all.

Find My Size

Which alabaster light
for which room.

Dining & Island

Hang a linear pendant or chandelier roughly 30–36″ above the surface. For a 6–8′ island, size the fixture or cluster to about two-thirds the counter length.

Foyer & Stairwell

Two-story spaces suit a tiered chandelier — Corbett or Miira. Keep the lowest point at least 7′ off the floor in a walkway.

Bedside & Hallway

A wall sconce — Ando, Marmo, Velora — frees the nightstand and adds the soft accent layer. Plug-in versions skip the hardwiring.

Living Room & Den

A table lamp — Marie, Pico — anchors a reading corner with warm light beside your overheads.

Questions

Alabaster lighting, answered.

Is alabaster lighting durable, or does the stone chip easily?

Alabaster is a solid, fine-grained stone with real weight — not fragile in normal use. It is softer than marble, so avoid knocks and harsh chemical cleaners. A soft, dry cloth keeps it looking right for years.

Will my alabaster fixture look exactly like the photo?

No — and that's by design. Each shade is cut from natural stone, so the veining and tone are unique to your piece. The product photo shows a representative example; yours will have its own distinct veining.

What bulb and colour temperature work best with alabaster?

Use a 2700K warm-white LED to bring out the honeyed, candle-like tone in the stone. Cooler bulbs make alabaster look gray. Most fixtures take an E26 or G9 base — check the product page — and dim with a compatible LED dimmer.

Which alabaster fixture should I choose for my room size?

Chandeliers (Corbett, Kurve, Miira) suit dining rooms and two-story foyers; pendants suit kitchen islands; sconces suit bedsides and hallways. Send us your dimensions for a free 3D preview to scale before you order.
