Inspiration

Alabaster is one of the few stones that lets light through, and it has been cut thin for exactly that reason since long before electricity — window panes in old churches, lamps in Roman houses. The Tavros uses it in the smallest sensible form: short drums, each capped with a sphere, set in a row along a brass bar. Unlit they read as pale stone against aged metal. Lit, the veining surfaces from inside, and every piece shows a different map.

Key Features

Alabaster Drum and Sphere
Each light pairs a translucent alabaster drum with a stone sphere on top, so the veining shows from inside once the fixture is lit.
Slim Aged Brass Backplate
An oval-ended brass bar just 3.1″ tall, mounted horizontally above a mirror or turned vertical alongside one.
Two, Three, or Four Lights
Three widths on the same profile, each with a warm white LED supplied — the shades face forward, so light lands where you need it.

FAQ

Can I use it in a bathroom?
As supplied it is rated for indoor dry locations, which covers a powder room, bedroom, or dressing area. For a full bathroom with a shower or tub, email us to confirm a damp-location rating before ordering, and in any case keep the fixture well clear of the shower zone — alabaster is porous, and repeated steam will dull the surface over time.
Which length suits my mirror?
Above a mirror, aim for a fixture roughly two-thirds to three-quarters of the mirror width, centred on it. The 3-light at 19.6″ suits most single vanity mirrors around 24–30″ wide; the 4-light at 27.5″ suits a wide or double vanity; the 2-light works on a narrow mirror or as a bedside pair. Whichever you pick, allow for the 6.8″ projection — it's more than a flush-mounted bar and will be noticeable in a tight walkway.
Is it real stone, and will it match the photos?
It's natural alabaster, not resin, which is why the fixture glows from within rather than looking evenly frosted. The consequence is that veining, opacity, and warmth differ between shades — including between the shades on one fixture. Yours will read as the same design but not an identical copy, and the difference is most visible when lit.

Alabaster — Natural Stone Lighting

The light lives
in the stone.

The Craft

From a block of stone
to light in your room.

Alabaster can't be moulded or mass-pressed — it is cut. Every shade starts as solid stone and is worked by hand until it's thin enough to glow evenly. That's why no two are the same.

01

Quarried

Blocks of natural alabaster are extracted and graded for translucency and the quality of their veining before any cutting begins.

02

Cut & shaped

Each block is sliced and turned or carved to form, then hollowed so a bulb can sit behind the stone wall.

03

Hand-finished

The walls are sanded to an even thickness so light passes through without dark patches, then polished by hand.

04

Wired & assembled

Fitted with brass hardware and wired to a 120V, ETL-compliant build, then inspected before it ships.

Why Alabaster

What makes it read as something rarer.

Translucent, not opaque

Light passes through the stone itself — the lit-from-inside quality you can't get from glass or acrylic.

Veining unique to your piece

Cut from a solid block, so the cloud-like veining is its own. No two alabaster fixtures are identical.

Warm and glare-free

The stone scatters light rather than aiming it. Pair with a 2700K bulb; most fixtures dim on a compatible LED dimmer.

Made for layered rooms

A soft accent beside stronger overhead light — at home with wood, linen, and brass in modern interiors.

Lit From Within

It doesn't light the room.
It becomes the light.

Switched off, an alabaster fixture is a quiet stone object. Switched on, the whole piece glows — sculpture you happen to be able to turn on.

The Collection

A gallery of carved light.

Chandeliers, pendants, sconces, table and floor lamps — all cut from natural alabaster, most paired with brass. Dozens of pieces in all.

Find My Size

Which alabaster light
for which room.

Dining & Island

Hang a linear pendant or chandelier roughly 30–36″ above the surface. For a 6–8′ island, size the fixture or cluster to about two-thirds the counter length.

Foyer & Stairwell

Two-story spaces suit a tiered chandelier — Corbett or Miira. Keep the lowest point at least 7′ off the floor in a walkway.

Bedside & Hallway

A wall sconce — Ando, Marmo, Velora — frees the nightstand and adds the soft accent layer. Plug-in versions skip the hardwiring.

Living Room & Den

A table lamp — Marie, Pico — anchors a reading corner with warm light beside your overheads.

Questions

Alabaster lighting, answered.

Is alabaster lighting durable, or does the stone chip easily?

Alabaster is a solid, fine-grained stone with real weight — not fragile in normal use. It is softer than marble, so avoid knocks and harsh chemical cleaners. A soft, dry cloth keeps it looking right for years.

Will my alabaster fixture look exactly like the photo?

No — and that's by design. Each shade is cut from natural stone, so the veining and tone are unique to your piece. The product photo shows a representative example; yours will have its own distinct veining.

What bulb and colour temperature work best with alabaster?

Use a 2700K warm-white LED to bring out the honeyed, candle-like tone in the stone. Cooler bulbs make alabaster look gray. Most fixtures take an E26 or G9 base — check the product page — and dim with a compatible LED dimmer.

Which alabaster fixture should I choose for my room size?

Chandeliers (Corbett, Kurve, Miira) suit dining rooms and two-story foyers; pendants suit kitchen islands; sconces suit bedsides and hallways. Send us your dimensions for a free 3D preview to scale before you order.
