The Weycroft Pendant Lamp started from old farmhouse lampshades, where linen was stretched over a frame and tied on with a length of cord instead of being glued. We kept that stitching in plain sight: a twisted cord wraps the top and bottom rims in a row of crosses, holding the fabric to the frame. The shade comes in three shapes, a tall lantern, a flared bell and a low drum, each topped with a dark turned-wood cap like the finial on an old lamp. Lit, the linen weave shows through as a fine grid of warm light.

Glass and metal shades direct light. Fabric scatters it — the weave spreads the bulb's output evenly across the whole surface, so the shade glows instead of throwing a single hot point.
