O anel exterior é cortado com um bisel para que a pedra se afine em direcção à borda, e o disco iluminado assenta dentro desse anel em vez de ficar flush. Porque o disco é recuado, a luz também escapa pela sua aresta e ilumina a face interior da pedra, onde se vê a porosidade.
