The Materials

Three fibers, three moods

Raffia, jute, and hemp look related at a glance but behave very differently once they're lit — in touch, in tone, and in the shadows they cast.

Fiber 01

Raffia — soft & fringed

Spun from raffia palm leaf, this fiber is fine and slightly glossy, often left in loose fringe or tight coils. It casts the softest, most even light of the three — a natural fit for coastal and relaxed interiors.

Fiber 02

Jute — earthy & rope-like

A coarser, rope-textured fiber with a deeper, honey-brown tone. Jute weaves cast a more graphic pattern of light and shadow, suited to farmhouse, boho, and Japandi spaces.

Fiber 03

Hemp — durable & understated

A sturdier, more tightly wound fiber with a muted, neutral tone. Hemp shades hold their shape well over time and read as the most minimal of the three — quiet texture without visual noise.

Shapes & Silhouettes

A silhouette for every room

From a single woven pendant over a breakfast nook to a layered cluster above a dining table, natural fiber lighting adapts to scale without losing its handmade character.

Care & Guidance

Living with natural fiber

A little care keeps a woven shade looking its best for years. Natural fiber is forgiving, but it does have a few preferences worth knowing.

Mind direct sun

Extended direct sunlight can gradually lighten natural fiber tones — a normal, expected patina over time.

💧

Keep it dry

Best suited to indoor, dry spaces — steady moisture can cause fibers to soften or discolor.

🖌

Dust, don't scrub

A soft brush attachment or dry cloth removes dust without disturbing the weave.

💡

Choose LED

Low-heat LED bulbs at a warm color temperature help the shade last longer.

Frequently Asked

Good to know

What's the difference between the three fibers?

Raffia is finer and softer with the most even glow; jute is coarser and rope-textured with a graphic light pattern; hemp is the most durable and neutral in tone. All three are handwoven, so texture will vary slightly piece to piece.

Are these fixtures safe for damp spaces?

Natural fiber shades are best kept in dry, indoor spaces. We don't recommend installing them in showers, uncovered patios, or other consistently damp areas.

What bulb type should I use?

An LED bulb at a warm color temperature (2700K–3000K) pairs best — it keeps heat low near the shade and brings out the warm tone of the fiber.

Will the color fade over time?

Natural fiber can lighten gradually with prolonged direct sun exposure. This is a normal, expected patina rather than a defect, and it develops slowly with everyday use.
