Inspiration

The Selvaris Pendant Lamp began with a spinning top and a scallop shell. The shade is a wide, shallow skirt of clear resin molded into rounded lobes like a shell's edge, with a spray of gold flakes and tiny bubbles caught inside the material so it sparkles the way old mica-flecked glass does. Above it, a turned piece of walnut tapers to a point, the profile of a wooden top or a dreidel, and a brass collar joins the two. Hung singly the shade reads as one shell; hung in threes from a round or long canopy, the walnut tops line up at different heights like a small mobile.

Round or linear canopy for three lights?

Use the 80cm/31.5″ linear canopy over a rectangular island or dining table so the shades follow its length; the Dia 30cm/11.8″ round canopy suits a round table, an entryway, or a stairwell.

How high should the shades hang?

Set the bottom of the shade about 75–85cm/30–34″ above a counter or table. Each cord is 150cm/59″ and is shortened at install; 180cm/70.9″ is the maximum overall drop.

Where does the light go?

The skirt is wide and shallow, so most light falls down onto the surface, and the gold flecks throw small sparkles up and sideways. It is table light, not whole-room light.

Is the shade glass?

No. It is molded resin, lighter than glass and less likely to chip, with the gold flakes cast inside; the fleck pattern differs on every shade.
