Inspiration

Most woven rattan lighting stays pale and holiday-bright. The Calora went the other way, toward the rattan you find in an old house — darkened by decades of smoke and handling until the weave reads as furniture rather than souvenir. Staining it walnut-dark turns the open weave into a graphic pattern instead of a texture, and gives the fixture enough visual weight to hold a dark ceiling or a room of painted cabinetry. Two silhouettes came from old basketry: the shallow winnowing tray and the deep bell trap.

Key Features

Two Shapes — Cone or Dome
A low saucer-cone for a wider, flatter spread of light, or a tall dome bell for more vertical presence and a tighter downward pool.
Single or Linear Cluster
One shade on a small wood ceiling cup, or two or three on a black metal bar — built for kitchen islands and longer dining tables.
Handwoven Dark Rattan
Natural rattan woven by hand over a metal frame in a dark walnut-tone stain — the weave shows as pattern by day and glows through the gaps when lit.
Choose Your Shape

Shape A
Saucer Cone
Low and wide, hangs closer to the ceiling and spreads light over a broader footprint. Suits tight headroom or wide surfaces.
Small: 13.2″ D × 6.7″ H (33.5 × 17 cm)
Large: 17.7″ D × 8.7″ H (45 × 22 cm)
Shape B
Dome Bell
Taller and rounded, with more visual weight. Pools light downward into a contained circle and reads sculptural from across the room.
Small: 13.8″ D × 9.8″ H (35 × 25 cm)
Large: 17.7″ D × 12.6″ H (45 × 32 cm)

Use Case

Configuration matters more than shape in most rooms. A single light works as a bedside pendant, a foyer focal point, or over a small breakfast nook; the 2-light bar sits neatly over a 4–6 seat dining table or a medium island; the 3-light bar is the kitchen-island workhorse for 7–9 ft runs and 6–8 seat tables. Hang the bottom of the shades 30–36″ above a table or island.

Dark rattan, walnut wood, and black metal pair with white oak, painted shaker cabinetry, raw linen and bouclé, terracotta tile, jute and sisal rugs, and warm-white paint — modern farmhouse kitchens, Japandi dining rooms, coastal sunrooms, rustic-modern bedrooms. FAQ

How do I size the bar to my island or table?
A workable rule: total bar length around 60–75% of the surface length. The 31.5″ bar suits surfaces roughly 42–52″ long, the 39.4″ bar roughly 53–66″. Past about 9 ft, two separate fixtures usually read better than one bar. Center the bar on the surface rather than on the room — an island offset from the ceiling joists is common, and the eye reads the surface line, not the ceiling.
Can I get the multi-light version with large shades?
No — the 2-light and 3-light bars ship with small shades only (13.2″ cone or 13.8″ dome). Large shades on a bar would sit too close together and crowd the run. If you want the larger diameter across a long surface, order two or three single-light fixtures and space them yourself, which also lets you set each drop independently.
Will the rattan warp or fade over time?
Indoors and dry, natural rattan holds its shape for years. The walnut stain can lighten slightly after long direct sun, though pendants rarely sit in a sunbeam. Humidity is the real risk — a shower room, damp basement, or covered patio will weaken the weave and mottle the stain, which is why the fixture is rated for dry locations only.
