Brimley Table Light

Inspiration

The Brimley began on a lathe. Turning a spindle from solid ash gives you a run of swelling curves, and the shape here is simply three of them stacked and left where the tool put them — no straight sections, no hidden joins, a wide rounded foot to sit on. Walnut stain and an oiled surface keep the grain readable rather than sealing it under gloss. The rest is what a lamp needs and nothing more: a metal harp, a finial, and a bead chain to pull.

Brimley Table Light — Plaid Fabric Shade with Walnut-Brown Trim StripesTap to enlarge
A
Plaid Fabric + Trim
Cream-and-walnut plaid with two contrast trim stripes running up the shade — classic library-lamp detailing for a traditional bedroom or reading corner.
Brimley Table Light — Open-Weave Cane Rattan ShadeTap to enlarge
B
Open-Weave Cane Rattan
Hand-woven cane in an open lattice, edged in walnut-brown trim. Light passes through the weave and throws a textured shadow — coastal, mid-century, organic modern.

C
Linen + Leather Lacing
Textured cream linen with hand-stitched leather lacing along the top and bottom edges — saddle-stitch detailing for a study, cabin, or rustic-modern desk.
Key Features

Stacked-Bead Solid Ash Base
Three turned curves rising from a wide rounded foot, carved from solid white ash — not veneer over MDF — and finished with oil that brings out the grain instead of sealing it under gloss.
High-CRI Bulb Included (Ra 97)
Ships with a warm-white E27 LED at Ra 97 — close to daylight, where ordinary LEDs sit at Ra 80–85. Wood grain, fabric weave, and skin tones read true instead of washed flat.
Metal Pull-Chain Switch
A bead chain hangs from the harp — pull once on, again off. Easy to find in the dark beside a bed, with no in-line switch to hunt for under the shade.

FAQ

How do I choose between the three shades?
Same wood base and hardware on all three — pick by the materials already in your room. Plaid (A) for traditional, library, or cottage; cane rattan (B) for coastal, mid-century, or organic modern; leather-laced linen (C) for a study, cabin, or rustic-modern desk. Shades attach with a standard harp and finial, so a different one from this series can be fitted later — email us for shade-only orders.
What is Ra 97, and why does it matter?
Ra (CRI) measures how accurately a light shows color against natural sunlight, which scores Ra 100. Household LEDs usually rate Ra 80–85, which leaves skin tones washed out and fabric colors muddy. At Ra 97, wood grain, weave, and skin read close to how they look in daylight — worth having on a lamp you also read, sew, or do close work under.
Is a bulb included, and can I dim it?
Yes — a warm-white E27 LED is installed and ready; plug in and pull the chain. E27 is the standard medium screw base and interchanges with US E26, so any hardware-store replacement fits (choose 2700–3000K to match the original look). For dimming, swap in a bulb labeled dimmable and use an LED-compatible dimmer — the included bulb is fixed-output and will flicker on one.
Is the wood solid, and can it go in a bathroom?
It is solid white ash, turned from solid stock rather than veneer over MDF; the walnut color is a stain under a food-safe oil finish. Keep it to indoor dry rooms — bedrooms, living rooms, studies, entryways. Bathrooms and covered porches will swell the wood, discolor fabric, and warp leather over time.
