Inspiration

The Floyd Alabaster Pendant Light stacks two pieces of natural alabaster — a wide, shallow saucer shade over a hanging alabaster orb — topped by a brass ball and a twisted fabric cord. The G9 bulb inside lights both pieces of stone so they glow softly while the saucer spreads light down. One size, 9.8″ Dia × 7.9″ H. Sized for a kitchen island, dining table, bedside, hallway, or entryway, it suits quiet-luxury, mid-century, Art Deco, Japandi, and Mediterranean rooms.

Good To Know
!
1 × G9 socket · G9 LED bulb included & replaceable · alabaster saucer + orb · brass ball & twisted cord · hardwired · ~59″ adjustable cord · sloped-ceiling <30° · dimmable (bulb & dimmer not included) · indoor dry only Both the saucer shade and the orb are real natural alabaster — veining and tone vary piece to piece; alabaster is porous and not damp-rated, so keep it to dry rooms and never clean it with water. The ball connector is brass, on a twisted fabric cord. Socket is G9 (a line-voltage bi-pin base); a G9 LED bulb is included and replaceable, warm 2700–3000K, and widely available in the US. Hardwired to a standard ceiling junction box on an ~59″ (150 cm) adjustable cord; sloped-ceiling compatible (up to ~30°); works with a dimmer when paired with a dimmable G9 bulb (dimmer not included); licensed electrician recommended. Indoor dry locations only. Dust the alabaster with a dry cloth; wipe the brass with a dry soft cloth.

Use Case

The Floyd reads as a saucer of stone over a glowing orb — the G9 bulb lights both alabaster pieces so they glow warmly while the shallow saucer spreads soft light down. It's ambient and accent light with a sculptural profile, not a bright task fixture.

Hang it solo over a bedside, breakfast nook, or entryway, or run several in a row over a kitchen island or counter. Hang the bottom of the orb about 30–36″ above an island or table; for multiples, space them roughly 24–30″ apart, and set the cord to your drop. The alabaster-and-brass pairing suits quiet-luxury, mid-century, Art Deco, Japandi, and Mediterranean rooms, alongside marble, wood, and warm-metal accents. FAQ
What bulb does it use — is it included?
It uses 1 × G9, a line-voltage bi-pin base, and a G9 LED bulb is included and fully replaceable, in a warm 2700–3000K. G9 LED bulbs are widely available in the US online and in stores, so replacements are easy. For dimming, use a dimmable G9 LED bulb with a compatible dimmer (neither included).
How bright is it, and what is the light like?
It's a single G9 bulb lighting two pieces of alabaster, so it gives a soft ambient glow — the shallow saucer spreads light down while the saucer and orb glow warmly. It's accent / ambient lighting rather than bright task light; over a work surface, pair it with other light sources or run several in a row.
Can I use it in a bathroom, and how do I clean the alabaster?
Indoor dry locations only. Alabaster is porous and not damp-rated, so keep it away from bathrooms with shower steam and outdoor spots — humidity can stain or degrade the stone. Cleaning: dust the alabaster with a dry soft cloth only — no water, vinegar, alcohol, or cleaners. Wipe the brass with a dry soft cloth and skip abrasive polish.
How is it installed, and can it go on a sloped ceiling?
It's a hardwired pendant that mounts to a standard ceiling junction box and hangs from a twisted fabric cord, ~59″ (150 cm) and adjustable to your drop. It's sloped-ceiling compatible (up to ~30°). Licensed electrician recommended. Indoor dry locations only.
Will my alabaster look exactly like the photo?
Not exactly — the saucer and orb are natural alabaster, so the veining pattern and tone vary piece to piece. The listing photo is representative; this variation is the character of natural stone, not a defect.
Alabaster — Natural Stone Lighting

The light lives
in the stone.

Hand-cut alabaster lighting that glows from within — chandeliers, pendants, sconces, and lamps, each carved from a single block of natural stone.

The Craft

From a block of stone
to light in your room.

Alabaster can't be moulded or mass-pressed — it is cut. Every shade starts as solid stone and is worked by hand until it's thin enough to glow evenly. That's why no two are the same.

01

Quarried

Blocks of natural alabaster are extracted and graded for translucency and the quality of their veining before any cutting begins.

02

Cut & shaped

Each block is sliced and turned or carved to form, then hollowed so a bulb can sit behind the stone wall.

03

Hand-finished

The walls are sanded to an even thickness so light passes through without dark patches, then polished by hand.

04

Wired & assembled

Fitted with brass hardware and wired to a 120V, ETL-compliant build, then inspected before it ships.

Why Alabaster

What makes it read as something rarer.

Translucent, not opaque

Light passes through the stone itself — the lit-from-inside quality you can't get from glass or acrylic.

Veining unique to your piece

Cut from a solid block, so the cloud-like veining is its own. No two alabaster fixtures are identical.

Warm and glare-free

The stone scatters light rather than aiming it. Pair with a 2700K bulb; most fixtures dim on a compatible LED dimmer.

Made for layered rooms

A soft accent beside stronger overhead light — at home with wood, linen, and brass in modern interiors.

Lit From Within

It doesn't light the room.
It becomes the light.

Switched off, an alabaster fixture is a quiet stone object. Switched on, the whole piece glows — sculpture you happen to be able to turn on.

The Collection

A gallery of carved light.

Chandeliers, pendants, sconces, table and floor lamps — all cut from natural alabaster, most paired with brass. Dozens of pieces in all.

Find My Size

Which alabaster light
for which room.

Dining & Island

Hang a linear pendant or chandelier roughly 30–36″ above the surface. For a 6–8′ island, size the fixture or cluster to about two-thirds the counter length.

Foyer & Stairwell

Two-story spaces suit a tiered chandelier — Corbett or Miira. Keep the lowest point at least 7′ off the floor in a walkway.

Bedside & Hallway

A wall sconce — Ando, Marmo, Velora — frees the nightstand and adds the soft accent layer. Plug-in versions skip the hardwiring.

Living Room & Den

A table lamp — Marie, Pico — anchors a reading corner with warm light beside your overheads.

Questions

Alabaster lighting, answered.

Is alabaster lighting durable, or does the stone chip easily?

Alabaster is a solid, fine-grained stone with real weight — not fragile in normal use. It is softer than marble, so avoid knocks and harsh chemical cleaners. A soft, dry cloth keeps it looking right for years.

Will my alabaster fixture look exactly like the photo?

No — and that's by design. Each shade is cut from natural stone, so the veining and tone are unique to your piece. The product photo shows a representative example; yours will have its own distinct veining.

What bulb and colour temperature work best with alabaster?

Use a 2700K warm-white LED to bring out the honeyed, candle-like tone in the stone. Cooler bulbs make alabaster look gray. Most fixtures take an E26 or G9 base — check the product page — and dim with a compatible LED dimmer.

Which alabaster fixture should I choose for my room size?

Chandeliers (Corbett, Kurve, Miira) suit dining rooms and two-story foyers; pendants suit kitchen islands; sconces suit bedsides and hallways. Send us your dimensions for a free 3D preview to scale before you order.
