De Tavienne-kroonluchter begint met de getorste balustre, de gevormde zuil die trappen en kandelaars in oude landheden ondersteunde. In steen uitgesneden in plaats van hout, wordt het de ruggengraat van het armatuur, met geslingerde armen die op de manier van een kandelaar uit- en terugbuigen. Elk arm eindigt in een kom waar een kaars zou staan, en een rond glazen bolkapje vervangt de vlam. Die combinatie van een traditionele vorm en een eenvoudige bol maakt het mogelijk dat het in Franse landelijke, boerderij- en overgangseetsalons past zonder als een periodestuk over te komen.
