Selune Pendant Light

Overview

The Selune Pendant Light is a single-bulb hardwired pendant with a beige fabric shade finished with contrasting walnut-brown trim along its six-petal scalloped edges. The trim outlines each petal of the silhouette, turning what would otherwise be a soft solid shade into a graphic, recognizable form from across the room.

A short turned solid-wood neck connects the shade to a black metal canopy above. The cord is adjustable so you can shorten the drop for low ceilings or leave it long for vaulted spaces. Suits cottage, French country, vintage-coastal, and breakfast-nook interiors where soft texture and visible trim work better than seamless surfaces.

Key Features

Six-Petal Scalloped Shade
A soft beige fabric shade pressed into a six-petal silhouette — softer than a drum and more recognizable than a typical cone pendant.
Contrasting Walnut Trim
Dark walnut-brown trim runs along every petal edge. The contrast against the beige shade reads as hand-finished vintage detailing rather than a plain modern silhouette.
Wood Neck + Black Canopy
A short turned solid-wood neck sits just above the shade, with a slim black metal canopy mounting the fixture to a standard ceiling junction box.
Where the Trim Works Hardest

The walnut-brown trim isn't just decorative — it's the visual edge that defines the silhouette in two different lighting states.

Lights On · Glowing Shade
Trim outlines the silhouette
When the bulb is lit, the beige fabric brightens and the dark trim stays dark — so each petal reads as a defined glowing panel separated by clean outlines, like a stained-glass effect in fabric.
Lights Off · Daytime Object
Reads as detailing in daylight
During the day, the trim functions as decorative detailing — adds visual interest to the shade so it looks like a considered object in the room rather than a generic white pendant.

Installation

Hardwired Pendant · Indoor Dry Use Only Selune is a hardwired pendant that mounts to a standard ceiling junction box — not a plug-in light. The cord can be shortened during install to set the shade height, and the drop is fixed once mounted. We recommend a licensed electrician for the wiring. Because the shade is fabric and the neck is natural wood, the pendant is rated for indoor dry locations only — please don't install it over a kitchen sink, in a bathroom, or on a covered porch where humidity collects. Dust the shade with a soft brush; wipe the wood neck with a dry cloth.

Where It Works

Selune's single-bulb output and trim-defined silhouette make this fabric pendant light for breakfast nook use a fitting overhead for a small two-to-four-seat table — hang it 30–34″ above the tabletop so the bottom of the shade clears sight-lines across to the person opposite. The contrasting trim reads as cottage detailing the way an exposed wood beam or visible joinery would, layering well against linen banquettes, painted wainscoting, and woven seat cushions.

In a bedroom, hang Selune above a bedside reading area or as a centerpiece over a vanity, where the soft scalloped form reads as decorative rather than industrial. In a small entryway, hallway, or coffee-bar corner of a kitchen, it works as an accent fixture that brings warmth without dominating the ceiling. Selune is a single-bulb ambient pendant — for a full dining-room overhead or kitchen-island prep lighting, you'll want a chandelier or a multi-light pendant cluster instead.

FAQ

What's the trim made of?
The trim is a sewn-on contrast band running along every petal edge of the shade, in a walnut-brown that picks up the color of the wooden neck above. It's a fabric trim — not painted-on or printed — so the contrast stays sharp under light rather than fading or rubbing off.
How many bulbs does it use? What kind?
One E27 medium-base bulb. E27 is the standard medium screw base used across most of Europe and in many globally-sourced US fixtures (most E27 LEDs fit a US E26 socket interchangeably). Use a warm-white bulb only — Selune is designed around a single warm color temperature, not daylight or cool-white bulbs, which would clash with the beige fabric and walnut tones.
How bright is it? Can it light a room?
With a single bulb and a fabric shade, Selune is designed for ambient and accent lighting — well suited to a small breakfast nook, a bedroom, or a small entryway, but not enough on its own to be the sole overhead in a full dining room or large kitchen. Layer it with table lamps, sconces, or under-cabinet lighting in larger rooms.
What's the right hanging height over a table?
For dining or breakfast tables, 30–34″ from the bottom of the shade to the tabletop is the standard range — close enough that the light pools warmly on the table surface, high enough to clear sight-lines across to the person opposite. For an entryway or bedroom centerpiece, drop it lower as a sculptural focal point.
Will every shade look identical to the photo?
Close, but not identical. The shade is sewn over a metal frame and the trim is hand-applied along each petal edge, so the trim curve and stitch placement vary subtly between pieces. The overall silhouette and color contrast stay consistent; the surface character is what differs unit to unit.
Does it work with a dimmer?
Yes, with the right bulb. Use an E27 LED explicitly labeled "dimmable" and pair the fixture with an LED-compatible wall dimmer. A standard non-dimmable LED will flicker or fail on a dimmer.
Can I install it myself?
Selune is hardwired and mounts to a standard ceiling junction box. If you've installed a pendant before — including shortening the cord to set the drop height — you can install Selune. Otherwise, hire a licensed electrician. Always shut off the breaker at the panel before working on the fixture.
Can I use it in a bathroom or covered porch?
No. Both the fabric shade and the wood neck will absorb humidity over time, leading to fabric discoloration, loose stitching, and wood warping. Selune is rated for indoor dry locations only — dining rooms, bedrooms, breakfast nooks, hallways, and similar dry interior spaces.
