Overview

The Brimley Table Light is a sculptural turned solid-ash table lamp built around a stacked-bead silhouette — three turned curves rising from a wide rounded foot. Finished in a deep walnut stain with a food-safe wood-oil treatment, capped with metal hardware and a metal pull-chain switch.

What sets Brimley apart is the three shade options on the same body — a tailored fabric shade with contrast trim, an open-weave cane rattan shade, or a hand-stitched leather-laced linen shade. Slip the chosen shade onto the harp, fasten with the included finial, plug in, and pull the chain to switch on. Because the base is solid wood and the shade carries fabric, rattan, or leather elements, the lamp is rated for indoor dry locations only — keep it away from bathrooms, sinks, and any surface that gets damp. Wipe the wood with a dry or barely-damp cloth; dust the shade with a soft brush.

Brimley is sized for nightstands and console tables — large enough to act as a primary bedside reading lamp, small enough not to dominate a sideboard or a small entry console. The pull-chain on the harp makes it natural for bedside use: reach up, pull, lights on; pull again to turn off without leaving bed.

The three shade options let you tune the lamp to its room. Pick the plaid fabric for a traditional bedroom or library reading corner; the open-weave cane for coastal, mid-century, or organic-modern interiors where the shade should read as a textural object; or the leather-laced linen for a study, lodge-style cabin, or rustic-modern desk where the saddle-stitch detail picks up leather or hide accents elsewhere in the room. Brimley is an ambient-to-reading-level table lamp — for direct desk task work, pair with an articulating desk lamp instead.

FAQ

How do I choose between the three shades?

Same wood base, different shade aesthetic. Plaid (A) is library / traditional / cottage. Cane rattan (B) is coastal / mid-century / organic-modern. Linen with leather lacing (C) is study / cabin / rustic-modern. The wood base and metal hardware are identical across all three — pick the shade that matches your room's existing materials.

What is Ra 97 and why does it matter?

Ra (CRI) measures how accurately a light source shows colors compared to natural sunlight, which scores Ra 100. Ordinary household LEDs typically rate Ra 80–85, which makes skin tones look washed-out and fabric colors look muddy. Ra 97 is close enough to sunlight that wood grain, fabric weave, and skin tones look the way they do in daylight — useful for a bedroom lamp where you also do small detail tasks (reading, knitting, applying makeup).

What kind of bulb does it use? Is one included?

Yes — a warm-white E27 LED bulb is included. E27 is the standard medium screw base used across most of Europe and in many globally-sourced US fixtures (most E27 LEDs fit a US E26 socket interchangeably). When the included bulb eventually needs replacing, any E26 / E27 LED at a US hardware store will fit. For consistency with the original look, choose a warm-white LED in the 2700K–3000K range.

Does it work with a wall dimmer?

Yes, with the right bulb. Swap in a dimmable E27 LED (must be labeled "dimmable" on the package) and pair with an LED-compatible dimmer or plug into a dimmer-rated outlet. The included LED is a fixed-output bulb — non-dimmable LEDs will flicker or fail on a dimmer.

Can the shade be replaced or swapped later?

The shade attaches with a standard harp and finial. If you order one shade option and later want a different look, replacement shades from the same series fit the same harp — contact us for shade-only orders.

Is the wood real or veneered?

Solid white ash — turned and shaped from solid wood, not veneer over MDF. The walnut color comes from a stain, and the surface is finished with food-safe wood oil that highlights the grain rather than coating it under a glossy varnish.

Can I use it in a bathroom or covered porch?

No. The wood base, fabric/rattan/leather shade elements, and electrical cord are all rated for indoor dry use only. Humidity will swell the wood, discolor fabric, and warp leather over time. Keep Brimley in bedrooms, living rooms, studies, entryways, and similar dry spaces.
