Inspiration

The Selmora Alabaster Flush Mount is a wide alabaster saucer ceiling light — a broad, shallow disc of natural alabaster on a reeded brass stem and round canopy, set just below the ceiling. A built-in LED lights the stone so the saucer glows and spreads a warm, even light down. One size, 19.7″ Dia × 9.8″ H. Sized for a dining table, kitchen, bedroom, entryway, or living room, it suits quiet-luxury, mid-century, Art Deco, Mediterranean, and organic modern rooms.

Good To Know

!
Integrated LED (built-in, maintenance-free) · ~3000K warm white · wide alabaster saucer · reeded brass stem & canopy · semi-flush, hardwired · indoor dry only The saucer is real natural alabaster — veining and tone vary piece to piece; alabaster is porous and not damp-rated, so keep it to dry rooms and never clean it with water. The reeded stem and round canopy are brass. The light source is a built-in integrated LED (about 3000K warm white) rated for roughly 50,000 hours — that's decades of everyday use, so it's maintenance-free with no bulbs to shop for or change. It's a semi-flush mount: a short reeded brass stem holds the wide saucer just below the ceiling (not tight against it). Hardwires to a standard ceiling junction box; licensed electrician recommended. Indoor dry locations only. Dust the alabaster with a dry cloth; wipe the brass with a dry soft cloth.

Alabaster is porous — indoor dry only The alabaster saucer is natural stone and absorbs moisture — keep it to dry rooms (not bathrooms with shower steam or outdoor) and never clean it with water or cleaners; dust dry only. The built-in LED is rated for roughly 50,000 hours, so it stays maintenance-free. Veining and tone vary piece to piece — the character of the stone, not a defect.

Use Case

The Selmora reads as a wide disc of glowing stone near the ceiling — the integrated LED lights the broad alabaster saucer so it casts a soft, even warm glow across the room. At 19.7″ across it has real presence, while the short reeded stem keeps it close to the ceiling instead of hanging like a pendant.

Center it over a dining table or kitchen, or use it as the main light in a bedroom, entryway, or living room on a standard ceiling. Plan it as general ambient light and center it on the space or table. The alabaster-and-brass pairing suits quiet-luxury, mid-century, Art Deco, Mediterranean, and organic modern rooms, alongside marble, wood, and warm-metal accents. FAQ

Is it a true flush mount or a semi-flush?
It's a semi-flush mount — a short reeded brass stem holds the wide alabaster saucer just below the ceiling rather than tight against it. At 9.8″ tall it still sits much closer than a pendant, so it suits standard ceilings while keeping the saucer's presence.
What is the light source like?
It's a built-in integrated LED tuned to a warm ~3000K white that lights the wide alabaster saucer for a soft, even ambient glow. It's rated for roughly 50,000 hours — decades of everyday use — so it's maintenance-free, with no bulbs to shop for or change.
How big is it, and where does it work?
It's a wide 19.7″ (Dia 50 cm) saucer, 9.8″ tall — broad enough to anchor a dining table, kitchen, bedroom, entryway, or living room. It gives broad ambient light; center it over a table or on the room. For a large or bright space, layer with other lighting.
Can I use it in a bathroom, and how do I clean the alabaster?
Indoor dry locations only. Alabaster is porous and not damp-rated, so keep it away from bathrooms with shower steam and outdoor spots — humidity can stain or degrade the stone. Cleaning: dust the alabaster with a dry soft cloth only — no water, vinegar, alcohol, or cleaners. Wipe the brass with a dry soft cloth and skip abrasive polish.
How is it installed?
It's a hardwired semi-flush — the round brass canopy mounts to a standard ceiling junction box and the reeded stem holds the saucer below it. Licensed electrician recommended. Confirm your junction box is centered where you want the fixture before mounting. Indoor dry locations only.
Alabaster — Natural Stone Lighting

The light lives
in the stone.

The Craft

From a block of stone
to light in your room.

Alabaster can't be moulded or mass-pressed — it is cut. Every shade starts as solid stone and is worked by hand until it's thin enough to glow evenly. That's why no two are the same.

01

Quarried

Blocks of natural alabaster are extracted and graded for translucency and the quality of their veining before any cutting begins.

02

Cut & shaped

Each block is sliced and turned or carved to form, then hollowed so a bulb can sit behind the stone wall.

03

Hand-finished

The walls are sanded to an even thickness so light passes through without dark patches, then polished by hand.

04

Wired & assembled

Fitted with brass hardware and wired to a 120V, ETL-compliant build, then inspected before it ships.

Why Alabaster

What makes it read as something rarer.

Translucent, not opaque

Light passes through the stone itself — the lit-from-inside quality you can't get from glass or acrylic.

Veining unique to your piece

Cut from a solid block, so the cloud-like veining is its own. No two alabaster fixtures are identical.

Warm and glare-free

The stone scatters light rather than aiming it. Pair with a 2700K bulb; most fixtures dim on a compatible LED dimmer.

Made for layered rooms

A soft accent beside stronger overhead light — at home with wood, linen, and brass in modern interiors.

Lit From Within

It doesn't light the room.
It becomes the light.

Switched off, an alabaster fixture is a quiet stone object. Switched on, the whole piece glows — sculpture you happen to be able to turn on.

The Collection

A gallery of carved light.

Chandeliers, pendants, sconces, table and floor lamps — all cut from natural alabaster, most paired with brass. Dozens of pieces in all.

Find My Size

Which alabaster light
for which room.

Dining & Island

Hang a linear pendant or chandelier roughly 30–36″ above the surface. For a 6–8′ island, size the fixture or cluster to about two-thirds the counter length.

Foyer & Stairwell

Two-story spaces suit a tiered chandelier — Corbett or Miira. Keep the lowest point at least 7′ off the floor in a walkway.

Bedside & Hallway

A wall sconce — Ando, Marmo, Velora — frees the nightstand and adds the soft accent layer. Plug-in versions skip the hardwiring.

Living Room & Den

A table lamp — Marie, Pico — anchors a reading corner with warm light beside your overheads.

Questions

Alabaster lighting, answered.

Is alabaster lighting durable, or does the stone chip easily?

Alabaster is a solid, fine-grained stone with real weight — not fragile in normal use. It is softer than marble, so avoid knocks and harsh chemical cleaners. A soft, dry cloth keeps it looking right for years.

Will my alabaster fixture look exactly like the photo?

No — and that's by design. Each shade is cut from natural stone, so the veining and tone are unique to your piece. The product photo shows a representative example; yours will have its own distinct veining.

What bulb and colour temperature work best with alabaster?

Use a 2700K warm-white LED to bring out the honeyed, candle-like tone in the stone. Cooler bulbs make alabaster look gray. Most fixtures take an E26 or G9 base — check the product page — and dim with a compatible LED dimmer.

Which alabaster fixture should I choose for my room size?

Chandeliers (Corbett, Kurve, Miira) suit dining rooms and two-story foyers; pendants suit kitchen islands; sconces suit bedsides and hallways. Send us your dimensions for a free 3D preview to scale before you order.
