Inspiration

The Veyric Pendant Lamp started from old glazed ceramic dishes with scalloped edges, the kind set out for sweets or soap in a grandmother’s kitchen. We turned that dish upside down and shaped its rim into rounded petals, so the shade reads as a small flower opening downward. A gold-tone metal dome sits where the center of the flower would be, and a twisted cream cord rises from it like a stem. Lit, the light spills out beneath the scalloped edge while the glazed petals stay glossy on top.

How many do I need over a kitchen island?

At 23cm/9.1″ wide, it is a small pendant, so most islands use a row of two or three, spaced about 60–75cm/24–30″ apart. Hang the bottom about 75–90cm/30–36″ above the countertop; the cord adjusts up to 150cm/59″.

What kind of light does it give?

A focused downlight. The glazed ceramic does not let light through, so it falls down below the scalloped rim onto the counter, table or bed below, with little light going up to the ceiling.

Can I hang it beside the bed?

Yes. A pair hung on either side of the bed can replace nightstand lamps; hang the bottom roughly at shoulder height when sitting up, so the bulb stays below eye level.

Which bulb should I use?

A warm-light bulb is included. The bulb shows just below the rim, so for replacements choose an E26 or E27 LED bulb at 3000K with a clear or frosted globe that looks good on display.
